Nice talent but a few pointers

Songs this long really need some variation, I listened to it a while then began to hear repetitions, a lot. I skipped through sections and it sounded the same. I like the riff, but you need variations, breaks, or bridges. You need to center on a riff and build upon it so that when you do play it over and over, it sounds new and more exciting. I can tell you have talent and I do like your song, but it's either too long or doesn't have enough variation for your length. Keep up the good work though.

EricFreeman responds:

There is variation, but it's very slight. The second time the through there's an underlying synth that gets added. I completely see where you're coming from on how it needs more variation, but this song was just meant as a simple background song used in a movie or something, so I didn't want too much variation or else it might be distracting.

Thanks for listening!

I really like this tune but

I would classify this as more of a dance or trance than rock or metal. Aside from that it's very catchy and the music has several breaks with different variations, which is a must if your song is over a minute long. Keep up the good work.

SquattingDog88101 responds:

Thanks for the support. NG wont let me change the genre. Its already used in a flash vid. Weird rule.

Jamming rhythm track

I like the rhythm track. The lead wasn't bad, but it sounded out of tune, especially on the b/high e bends....
Alround pretty good tune though.

AttackTh3Radical responds:

Yeah I can't bend in tune terribly well, but thanks a lot!

Not too bad

How long have you been playing? The notes are mostly pretty clean and seem to be in tune. The higher octacte guitar seems to clash with the song though..
The driving last 5 seconds was cool...pretty good interpretation. With a little practice you could make a masterpiece...just keep practicing...

Jehendos responds:

Got the guitar last Oktober but started playing somewhere january.
Yea the harmony in the end is a little bit off tune.
Got an ESP LTD M-10 series wich costs 200 EU (Guitar, Amp, tuner, ect). so its realy cheap. Had to buy an BOSS ME-70 to get a half decent sound out of it.

But thanks for you constructive respone :-)

That's pretty sweet....

You should make this into a complete song....collab with me or something...riff has a lot of potential..

SmdSkata responds:

If you could write me a PM, and went I get some free time coming up, we can definitely give it a try.

Awesome drums

Song was pretty rocking, loved the drums and the main riff was catchy, kind of Jet style. The solo wasn't bad either. Good job....just try adding some more variety to your riffs...

Pocketpod responds:

well, there's no Solo in it, it's just another riff^^

Thanks for your review.

Pretty cool

Although I'd seriously be careful using original samples of the song like you're doing. It's one thing to cover it, but using the original in the cover can lead to problems....
Off the legal note, the riff is pretty cool...Chris Daughtry beat you to it though...

Yabossobay responds:

Link is broken, but I researched it and came up with what I'm pretty sure your trying to show me. Hes a great singer but he used acoustic.

As for the legal issues as long as I don't blatantly claim to own and have written the original track, and I don't plan to sell it then there shouldn't be an issue.

The live recording

is actually more energetic and better mixing than this, unusual. Great song, but you need to turn up the backing on this version a bit. Still a great song, keep on rocking guys.

GetItRoland responds:

Yea, that's why I uploaded the live one. I like it better too.

Very nice

Reminds me of a cross between Bob Seger and some aspects of Iron Maiden. Great song though, my mom would probably like this. Very golden rock years sounding. Very catchy...

GetItRoland responds:

Thanks for that. Great hearing from someone who has been around NG for as long as you have and has great songs too. We were going for Seger-style simplicity here, but done our way........ You got it! Play it for your Mom and everyone else. haha.

Not my normal cup of tea

but this song is catchy. I like the textures and melodies. They melded well and make a pretty solid tune. Need to develop a break and ending and the song would be pretty solid for the type of song it is.

2tailedknight responds:

the "break" and "ending" you're talking about is part of a formula to music that i still need to learn. i haven't had too much success trying to make it.

thought this is a loop so it shouldn't have an ending, but i do see your point.

i'll get there, its just a matter of when.

thank you very much for taking time to review my music

I'm a man of few words, but if anyone wants to talk I won't turn a deaf ear. If the house ain't a rocking, when you come a knocking, come on in, I must be dead.
